About The Grid Games

Over 30 years of games, community, and good times.

Since 1993

Our Story

The Grid Games opened its doors in 1993 as a sports card and comic book shop on Purnell Place in downtown Manchester, Connecticut. Over the decades, the store evolved alongside the gaming industry — embracing the explosion of trading card games like Magic: The Gathering and Yu-Gi-Oh!, the rise of retro gaming culture, and the growth of competitive and casual play communities.

What started as a small hobby shop has grown into one of Connecticut's most respected gaming stores, known for its deep inventory, fair prices, and a loyal community of players who keep coming back week after week.

Our Values

What We're About

At The Grid, community comes first. We believe a great game store is more than shelves of product — it's a place where people connect, compete, and have fun together. That's why we've invested in ample play space for events, tournaments, and casual hangouts.

We welcome players of all skill levels. Whether you're a veteran Commander player or someone who just pulled their first booster pack, you'll find a seat at the table here.

Leadership

Meet the Owner

Karl Dignam has been at the helm of The Grid Games since the beginning. A lifelong gamer and collector, Karl built the store around a simple idea: create the kind of place he'd want to hang out in. His knowledge of the industry — from vintage comics to the latest TCG sets — and his genuine passion for the community have made The Grid a Manchester institution.

You'll often find Karl behind the counter, ready to talk shop about the latest releases, help you find that hard-to-get single, or just catch up on the week's tournament results.
